Cytek Horseshoeing is one of the fastest growing horseshoeing systems in the world. It was developed by farriers, for farriers who were seeking an easier way to address hoof related problems in the domestic equine. After numerous worldwide studies and many trying years of research, the original Cytek shoe was produced. The philosophy behind the Cytek Research and Development is:
- To design a shoe that allows the domestic equine foot to function as closely as possible to what nature intended.
- To design a shoe that supports the sole and pedal bone, while affording natural hoof growth, foot function, balance and movement.
- To design a shoe that allows the equine to achieve its own central point of balance in all paces at all times. This allows the animal to carry himself in the most efficient way possible thus reducing the risk of stresses and strains on the muscular and skeletal system.
In 1996 the first run of Cytek shoes came off the production line and began being sold to farriers across the U.K. The system was first introduced in North America in February of 2001. The Cytek System is also gaining popularity worldwide. Currently, Cytek Research and Development is doing a number of studies in different locations around the world. Some of these studies are under way here in America. All of these studies are aimed toward preventing lameness and maximizing the performance of our domestic equines.
